When topherchris instigated Sharks vs. Cats with gratitude for “having such talented people work on such a wacky idea” - did he suspect it would trigger a pile-up at Sillicon Alley Insider where Joe Weisenthal claimed the “harmless fun” is “emblematic of the problems facing” Tumblr!?
The ensuing comments included a tumblelogging who’s-who with David Karp, channelling Steve Jobs:
Joe, just about everything you assert in this article is wrong.
But Karp, unlike Jobs, kindly elaborated, concluding:
What you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent article were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Immediate update: the last quote is misattributed. I apologize.
It really was one of the more bewildering articles I’ve seen recently, and it should probably be taken down. I left my response too, which amounted to a Seth Meyers “really?!??!” bit, and then Karp took it up three notches. Ouch.
