There’s a reason I praise Jay and my other favorite writers so much: they’re way too good at talking about sensitive issues in a way that allows a respectable conversation to happen. That piece I linked to about how conservatives like Maddow because they can at least talk to her without fear of getting dumped on? They didn’t go on Olbermann because Olbermann’s show was all about Olbermann. O’Reilly’s show is ultimately about making O’Reilly look good. Both are handjobs for people who agree with their general worldview and like a lot of yelling and repulsive to just about everyone else. See also: a whole lot of tumblr “#politics” bloggers.
