How I Stopped Worrying and Learned to Love the Bullshit…
Coulter makes bank on this. Every year or two, usually around the time she’s releasing a new book, she says something ridiculous. Most noteworthy to me was that time during the Democratic primaries when she called John Edwards a f——-t for pretty much no reason, everyone got into a tizzy, and she got to go on various newsy broadcasts to explain herself (IIRC, she got a cushy spot on the Today Show for this occasion). Everyone would be aghast at what she said, she wouldn’t back down, and she’d walk off, happy to be put on a major broadcast for the free publicity. Whatever show she’s on gets really good ratings because they expect a fist fight, so the network stays happy, and everyone forgets about this the next day.
Once you brace yourself for a Coulter sighting like this, it becomes a little easier to deal with. A LITTLE easier. I don’t expect anyone to get used to her slurs. But she made a shitty joke about gay people last week and I was like “oh fuck I guess it’s that time again” and I started seeing her name in my Twitter timeline and was like “oh fuck it’s that time again again”.
But I really have no answers. I would recommend not watching any shows she appears on, but people get excited when she shows up on Maher’s show. Liberals get excited. I’ve seen a dude on here label one of her appearances “must watch TV”. And that’s pretty shitty.
I’d recommend calling the publisher and annoying them about it but her publisher is part of that weird cottage industry of conservative commentator books that seem to do well. They’d probably be like “lol bye” if you called them. Maybe call them and annoy them anyway, because all of this is ridiculous.
Maybe try some breathing exercises to calm yourself down when she says something stupid? I’m half-kidding.
BTW, she recently released a new book about how liberals are the real racists (of course she did). But you know this by now.
